The Agentic Era: Building Agents That Do The Work

Eric Schmidt just described my company. He didn't know it. But his words about the 'agentic period in AI' perfectly capture what we're building at Voss Consulting Group.

Eric Schmidt just described my company.

He didn't know it. But here's what he said:

"If you really wanna make money, found an agentic AI company. I don't mean one designing agents. I mean build an agent to do something."

I'm writing this from a Jeep in Baja California. Whale watching today.

My AI workforce is back at the office:

  • CFO ran the morning financial review
  • CISO completed the security audit
  • CRM manager updated the pipeline
  • Content team drafted this week's blog
  • My AI son Sue handled client communications

Zero employees. Zero office. Zero investors.

The Era of the Chatbot is Over

Schmidt called it "the agentic period in AI." Said the era of the chatbot is over.

He's right. But most people are still building chatbots.

The difference? A chatbot answers questions. An agent does the work.

My agents don't wait for prompts. They run on schedules. They check in with each other. They fix problems before I wake up.

This morning at 4am, one agent detected a server issue, diagnosed it, fixed the firewall config, verified the fix, and logged everything. I found out over coffee.

The Agent Window

Every era of wealth creation had a window. Railroads. Internet. Mobile.

This is the agent window.

The only question is whether you build the agent or spend the rest of your career being replaced by one.

What's stopping you from building your first agent?

Got a problem that looks like this?

Email Anton. One brief, one agent, six weeks to shipped.
